The Golden State Warriors‘ pursuit of history faced a huge obstacle on the road in Memphis on Saturday night.

If the Golden State Warriors were going to finish with the best record in NBA history, then they had to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies on the road on Saturday night.

Despite the fact the Grizzlies came in with a roster composed of D-Leaguers and 10-day contracts because of injuries, the Grizzlies gave the fight of their life against the Warriors.

Early on, the Grizzlies smothered Stephen Curry and they got away with a ton of physicality, as the refs let the two sides play. Curry struggled to find his rhythm for most of the game and it looked like the Warriors were going to see their chase of history end before they could take on the San Antonio Spurs.

In the second half, the Grizzlies behind Zach Randolph getting physical down low and Curry struggling to find his range, built up a double-digit lead.

With six minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Warriors found themselves down a sizeable lead, until Shaun Livingston and Andre Iguodala helped the Warriors chip away at the lead.

After a Curry three cut the lead, Draymond Green would make two huge drives to pull the Warriors within one. A Harrison Barnes three would give the Warriors the lead and the Grizzlies would have one last shot at a win, but would fall short and the Warriors would escape Memphis with their pursuit of history in tact.

The Warriors will now face off with the Spurs on Sunday, in what should be the biggest regular season game ever.
