San Francisco 49ers select DeForest Buckner: Twitter reacts
DeForest Buckner went No. 7 to the 49ers in the 2016 NFL Draft and Twitter had things to say
Picking at No. 7 in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers were in a spot where they really didn’t know who would be available when they made their selection. They figured that the two best players at their biggest need, quarterback, would be gone after the first two picks, which means they’d have to look elsewhere for help in improving.
What was interesting for the 49ers in this draft is that it’s the first draft with polarizing head coach Chip Kelly running the show in the Bay Area, which made their selection the least surprising thing ever. With the No. 7 pick, the 49ers took defensive end DeForest Buckner out of Oregon.
Buckner is a player with a ton of upside, but that was highly divisive among scouts in regards to where teams should draft him. With the Laremy Tunsil drama happening, though, the 49ers deemed the No. 7 pick the right spot for Buckner.
Here’s what the good people of Twitter had to say about the 49ers selecting DeForest Buckner:

Obviously even a high upside player like DeForest Buckner can’t help the 49ers fans with being as jaded as their recent lack of success has made them. However, there were at least some pleased with the selection and to have Buckner heading just a bit south to play with Chip Kelly.
