Russell Westbrook struggled to score efficiently in a Game 5 loss for the Oklahoma City Thunder. When asked if Stephen Curry’s defense was the cause, all he could do was laugh.

As the Thunder dropped Game 5, and a chance to finish off the Golden State Warriors, Russell Westbrook shot 11-of-28 from the field and racked up seven turnovers, often defended by Curry. After the game, a reporter asked him and Kevin Durant whether they thought Curry was underrated as a defender. Durant offered some back-handed compliments about Curry moving his feet and being good with his hands.

All Westbrook had was a laugh.

Westbrook’s laugh appeared to be some intentional shade-throwing, but Curry did do a nice job defensively in Game 5. He finished with five steals and another two deflections, and was often disruptive with those quick feet and hands Durant made mention of.

Things have been salty throughout these entire Western Conference Finals. The games have been physical with emotions running high. Draymond Green and Westbrook had a running conversation through the media about each other’s propensity for seeking fouls with wild flailing for contact.

This series has provided some incredible basketball moments. The backdrop of two teams who seem to strongly dislike each other and are willing to make that public just ratchets up the drama.
