Roman Reigns was the No. 6 selection in the WWE Draft 2016 going to the WWE Raw show.

The WWE Draft 2016 edition may have looked different if held a few months ago, but things were certainly shaken up prior to it being held tonight. Among the questions heading into the draft were who would go as the top pick overall, and which shows the members of The Shield would head to. After Seth Rollins was drafted first overall to Raw and Dean Ambrose went to Smackdown second, that left just Roman Reigns.

However, it would be several selections before Reigns was taken. At the No. 6 overall pick, the RAW brand finally selected Reigns as their choice with General Manager Mick Foley announcing it was a pick that he and Stephanie had argued over a bit prior to making it. As many fans know, Reigns was suspended by WWE weeks ago for violation of the company’s Wellness Policy and as of right now isn’t quite as in favor with the organization as he had been.

Reigns had held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship up until the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view but saw the title slip away when Rollins defeated him in their main event match. Moments after that, Dean Ambrose cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and lost the strap. Reigns was inserted into a Triple Threat match which will take place at the Battleground pay-per-view this coming Sunday but has been absent from WWE programs save for mentions by Rollins.

Those mentions by Rollins haven’t been in the best light, but the company still has enough hope that he can be one of their marquee stars on the Raw brand. It will be interesting to see whether he remains in the championship picture after Sunday or gets shuffled down a bit with another superstar taking his spot for now.
