Rejoice, Bears fans: your number one draft pick in 2015 was just sick when he was carted off the field this morning.

Chicago Bears fans across the nation got a little bit of a scare this morning with rookie outside linebacker Leonard Floyd had to be carted off the field due to an injury. Thankfully, according to head coach John Fox, Floyd was just a little under the weather, and will be fine very soon.

Not only was Floyd sick, but he’s been sick the past few games, so it isn’t the “flu” that he’s sick with. He’s been trying to put it together over this week and get some good practice time in, but ultimately just couldn’t do it.

It’s safe to say that the Bears will be depending on Floyd to be one of their outside linebackers of the future, as they traded up two spots to snag him 9th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. They have some good players like Lamarr Houston on the roster, but those players struggled a tad in the beginning of the season.

Floyd is rangy enough to be the Bear’s outside linebacker of the future. He was stellar in the 3-4 defense at Georgia, where he played three years before opting into the NFL Draft. If Floyd can stay healthy, we might see him in a starting role as the season draws to a close. We’ll likely see him get multiple meaningful snaps regardless due to the Bear’s depth at outside linebacker. Either way, Floyd will be a factor for the Bears this year.
