NBA superstar LeBron James helped sway Justin Bieber away from a lucrative Republican National Convention performance he was asked to do.

LeBron James recently helped to convince pop star Justin Bieber not to perform at the GOP Convention in Cleveland. While it might sound like not a big deal at first, Bieber was offered $5 million for the gig which was to be held at a venue near Quicken Loans Arena.

According to TMZ, a promoter had contacted Justin’s people and said the event was “not political,” and that Bieber wouldn’t officially be endorsing Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump or any GOP policies. It’s also being said it would have been “the biggest single payday ever for Justin,” or almost any other singer. $5 million is certainly life-changing for most folks, but Bieber has a net worth of $200 million or more.

It was also mentioned that Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, is a supporter of the Hillary Clinton campaign and that he and Bieber wanted to hang “Black Lives Matter” signs around the Cleveland area where the “Biebs” would perform. However, they were told they would need to have signs saying “All Lives Matter” instead.

So where does LeBron come into play? Apparently he was supposed to also attend an event to welcome the GOP to Cleveland. This was also supposed to be non-political in nature.

When Justin’s people got into touch with LeBron’s people about the convention and performance, it’s being reported that LeBron’s group said he wouldn’t be in the area for the convention. They also urged Justin not to participate either.

In addition, Justin’s band which is comprised of African-American musicians simply didn’t want to perform this show. So with all that in mind, Justin turned down the offer, with a bit of strong suggestion from the King James camp.

If it’s all true, one should probably give it up for Bieber in this instance as he turned down one huge payday to take a stand!
