Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Roberto Aguayo did not make a good first impression as he missed an extra point attempt in his first preseason game.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers turned a lot of heads when they traded up to the second round in order to draft Florida State Seminoles kicker Roberto Aguayo. It was a move that puzzled a lot of people, and many critics saw the move as a terrible one. Aguayo did not do much to silence those critics in his first preseason game with the Buccaneers, as he missed an extra point attempt after the Buccaneers scored.

Aguayo will have to do better than that if he wants to make a good first impression with the Buccaneers. Trading up for kickers is always a risky move. Drafting them in the first four rounds is even riskier. Aguayo has the type of success that could help him rebound from his rough first preseason game, but still, this isn’t a good look for the Bucs’ second round pick.

In 2013, Aguayo won the Lou Gaza award as the best kicker in college football. He is also the first kicker to be drafted in the second round since Ohio State’s Mike Nugent was drafted in the second round back in 2005.
