Michael Phelps disses reporter wearing Steelers jersey.

Michael Phelps has become most decorated athlete in Olympic history. He has 28 medals, that included five gold medals and one silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Phelps is set to retire after the 2016 Olympics, and this time his retirement seems permanent. Phelps is 31 now and doesn’t see a 35 year-old version of himself competing in Tokyo in 2020.

Phelps is also from Baltimore, Maryland born and raised. There’s no secret that he’s beloved by the city of Baltimore. The Baltimore Ravens took time out of their preseason game last week to showcase their beloved son’s race on the big screen. The fans in Baltimore were delighted to see Phelps capture another gold medal in the 200M individual medley.

The feeling between Phelps and the Ravens is mutual, as he’s also a fan of theirs. As a fan of Ravens, you’re supposed to have animosity to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The two teams are AFC North division foes and they’re two match-ups throughout are often highly anticipated and competitive.

So as a true Baltimore Ravens fan, Phelps was put of by a Steelers fan, albeit a reporter. In a interview during the Olympics, Phelps spots the reporter and instantly becomes disgusted. Seeing the reporter donning the Steelers jersey, immediately helps Phelps realize that the NFL season is indeed almost here.

When asked about the furious rivalry between the Ravens and Steelers, Phelps stated, “I always think we’re going to beat Pittsburgh. That’s the obvious answer. But I think one of the cool things about that, we always play each other really hard, and as much as I’m not a Steelers fan, the games are really exciting and we get a lot of intense hits.”
The Baltimore native seems to particularly enjoy the rivalry between the Ravens and Steelers. As even though he always roots for the Ravens, his enjoys the games between the division foes because of the excitement and hard hits.
