15. Drew Brees nearly brought the Saints back on Thursday Night Football, but it was too little too late. The veteran quarterback found Brandon Coleman and Coby Fleener for late touchdowns, but was left with just 14 seconds and no timeouts to put together a significant threat. Somehow the defense held up, despite being one of the worst in the NFL. They failed to force turnovers, but held Jonathan Stewart to 31 rushing yards and Cam Newton to just one touchdown. Finding a solution for special teams will be their next test after a blocked field goal would immediately result in a Panthers touchdown.
Next Week: Rookie Jared Goff will make his second career start in New Orleans, giving the Saints an interesting task. They will have just one NFL tape on Goff, and there won’t be too much to work off of. This game will either be a nail biter or blowout for either side.

Playoff hopes: New Orleans sits two games behind the Falcons for the NFC South. Unless Atlanta goes through their classic second-half collapse, the Saints need to be looking towards a wild card spot. They sit in the bottom half of the NFC, but a winning streak could push them forward.
. 4-6. Previous: . New Orleans Saints. 25. team
