The Buffalo Bills suffered a big loss on Sunday to the Pittsburgh Steelers. With a 6-7 record, Rex Ryan’s job is in serious jeopardy.

Just prior to the start of the game on Sunday, rumblings emerged that head coach Rex Ryan might be fired after the game if the Bills lost.

On a snowy day in Orchard Park, the Bills were unable to defeat a talented Pittsburgh Steelers team. However, no move to fire Ryan has happened just yet. According to the Buffalo News, Bills owner Terry Pegula doesn’t appear like he wants to fire Ryan during the season.

With three games left, it looks like Ryan will be safe until the end of the season. After finishing 8-8 as the head coach last season, Ryan could have the same record in 2016. The Bills have three winnable games left on their schedule, but even winning out will only have them finish with a 9-7 record.

In the next three weeks, Ryan and the Bills will be playing the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins and New York Jets. Depending on the health of Ryan Tannehill, the Bills could be favored to win all three games. Sadly, running the table won’t save Ryan’s job.

With all of the injuries that the Bills have had to deal with, firing Ryan would be unfair. Assuming the Bills win two of their next three games, Ryan will have a .500 record in two seasons as the head coach in Buffalo. However, the regression of the defense and Tyrod Taylor are reasons why the organization might make a change.

While a .500 record isn’t fantastic, it also isn’t a poor job by Ryan. Even though the Bills haven’t done terribly with Ryan as the head coach, it appears that he will be fired at some point. The Bills certainly have some talent on their team. However, they aren’t a team that is obviously under-performing.

Finally, if the Bills don’t fire Ryan during the season, expect to see him be fired on Black Monday. If Ryan is fired once again, finding another head coaching job will be difficult.
