USMNT star Christian Pulisic committed his future to Borussia Dortmund, signing a contract extension through 2020.

Borussia Dortmund have announced they have signed talented USMNT player Christian Pulisic to a contract extension. Pulisic will remain in Dortmund until June of 2020.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said on the teams website, “we are very happy to have secured the long-term commitment of another extraordinarily talented player.”

The 18-year-old has been a pleasant surprise for both the United States and Dortmund, as he has become a regular contributor for the German side.

Born in Hershey, PA, Pulisic was first seen by Dortmund when he played for the Pennsylvania Classics, and ever since then has been regarded as one of America’s top talents.

So far this season, Pulisic has registered two goals and four assists in 13 games for BVB, which is an improvement from his nine games and two goals from last season.

Pulisic has also become a key player for the USMNT, making his senior debut on March 30, 2016, and appearing in 11 games. His ability to play on the wings, his good eye for a pass and dribbling skills are why he’s so coveted by Dortmund.

Signing Pulisic shows Dortmund have high hopes for him. He isn’t even 20 yet, and is a rotational player for one of the top clubs in Europe. When the stakes are high, Pulisic seems to relish in it. Dortmund have done a nice job giving him the right amount of playing time, while also not giving him too much responsibility.

There are a lot of people watching Pulisic, and this signing is a big one for young American player trying to emerge in Europe. If an 18-year-old from Pennsylvania can succeed in Germany, then the door should be open for other talented young Americans.
