With the season coming to a close, here’s a look at the latest edition of our ACC power rankings

There is just one week of conference play left before the ACC Tournament tips off in Brooklyn. The conference has finally taken shape. At least a share of the regular season title has been clinched. The bubble has been reduced to just a few teams as some have worked their way into the field and others have dropped out.

The conference overall continues to show its dominance as seven teams were in the AP Top 25 this week. There are two key bubble matchups remaining on the schedule, both to come this weekend. Two elite teams just about traded places this week, but there was not much more movement as the top two stayed the same. As we wind down and head towards the postseason, here’s how the ACC stands with a week to go.

*Note: Rankings compiled prior to Tuesday night’s ACC matchups

15

Boston College Eagles

Last week: 9-20, 2-14 ACC
Last rank: 14

Back in the bottom spot, the best Boston College can hope for is a tie at the bottom of the conference. Their horrible overall record will keep them at the bottom, but winning out could tie them in conference record. Winning out seems unlikely at this point, and that’s being generous. They still have to play Notre Dame and Clemson, both on the road. Notre Dame being a top 25 team and one of the best in the conference, those hopes could be shattered Wednesday night. The last time they played the Irish, they lost by only eight. That could give the Eagles hope, but heading to Indiana would make it even harder to win. Jim Christian’s squad hasn’t won a game since January 11, so any win would be welcomed. Headed for the lowest seed in the ACC Tournament, it seems unlikely to come there.

14

North Carolina State Wolfpack

Last week: 15-15, 4-13 ACC
Last rank: 15

With just one game left, NC State is in a heated battle for the 14th spot in the conference. In a conference with Boston College, second-to-last is a very dubious distinction. Their win over Georgia Tech helped last week, but it’s little consolation. A team with a very talented roster, NC State was expected to make the leap this year. Now, to move more than one spot ahead of Boston College, the Wolfpack will have to take down Clemson in their final game. It’s not exactly a bubble matchup, but it could provide some intrigue. We will see who has given up on their season and who wants a higher ACC Tournament seed. At this point it might not matter as NC State will play on the opening day and even if they win, they’ll go on to face a top seed.
