If you’re planning on buying the Nintendo Switch, here’s how much you’ll have to spend.

We’re less than a week out from the official release date of the Nintendo Switch. Like most Nintendo consoles, we’re very excited for its potential. We’re willing to spend the amount needed in order to have it in our possession. How much will it cost, though?

Most Nintendo home consoles are priced between $250-350, or at least the last couple consoles have been. The Switch will cost $300, which is around the same price we were projecting it to be. In all honesty, it’s a great and reasonable price.

The Wii U launched with a Basic and Deluxe version. The Basic version launched at a price of $300, while the Deluxe version was $350. The Switch and the Wii U are very similar when it comes to pricing.

Both consoles are slightly more expensive than the last generation of consoles, however. For example, the GameCube launched at a price of $199. Looking back, that was an absolute bargain. The Wii was also affordable at $250. Those were almost impossible to find for a couple months after launch.

As stated before, the pricing for the Switch is reasonable and affordable, especially when you compare it to the other consoles. The Xbox One and PS4 are both much cheaper now. But, at launch, they were pretty pricey. We know that Nintendo always likes to set themselves apart.

When it comes to hardware, video games, and pricing, they are always unique and different. They’re definitely the most affordable company. Then again, the Switch accessories, such as the Joy-Con controllers, are very expensive. But that’s another topic …
