As rumors continue to swirl, today the New Orleans Saints will reportedly make a decision on what to do with star wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

The 23-year-old star receiver blew up his second year in the league where he nearly doubled his rookie numbers in targets, yards, and touchdowns. An unfortunate casualty of a necessary full-blown rebuild, the Saints have been listening to offers made from teams that include the Titans, Eagles, and Patriots.

According to The Ringer’s Michael Lombardi, the Saints have laid out all of their options and will make their decision today on where they will send Cooks, if anywhere.

Personally, I am not a big fan of this move, Cooks is a proven star that is only 23 years old. He has a good 3-4 years before he hits his prime, which should be plenty of time for the Saints to put something together around him.

Yes, this draft class is extremely deep at a lot of the positions that could benefit the Saints, but I don’t think that the return will be greater than the investment on Cooks. Unless the Saints settle for something, I don’t think he is going anywhere.

As reported by Chris Mortensen, the Saints are looking for quite the haul in return for Cooks.

I think this eliminates the Eagles for the running seeing as they now have a solid trio of Alshon Jeffery, Torrey Smith, and Jordan Matthews, the Titans are almost as bad in the secondary as the Saints and will be looking to remedy that in the draft which leaves the Patriots.

Yes, they can offer the 27-year-old Malcolm Butler, their 32nd pick in the draft, and possibly some other future picks as it seems that getting younger is a top priority for Bill Belichick and company, checking all of the boxes mentioned above.

Regardless it will be another interesting day in NFL free agency with one big decision reportedly coming today.
