A spiritual successor to everyone’s favorite basketball game to play, NBA Jam, is happening in the form of NBA Playgrounds.

On Wednesday, a spiritual successor to NBA Jam was revealed. The game is called NBA Playgrounds and it’s hard to differentiate between the two. It looks just like the game we grew up playing and it’s extremely nostalgic. This is a great opportunity for old-timers to revisit a fresh take on the series. However, it’s also something new for a new generation of gamers.

NBA Playgrounds is looking to go back to that classic arcade style of gameplay. We’ve been longing to play something like NBA Street or NBA Jam for awhile now. It’s great to see that we’ll be getting something extremely similar. This game is looking over the top, over-exaggerated and simply a ton of fun.

In the trailer, you see current NBA superstars such as LeBron James, Steph Curry, James Harden, and Dirk Nowitzski. You also see some legends, like Allen Iverson and Shaquille O’Neal. According to IGN, every NBA team is playable. Whether it’s the current roster of players or classic teams from the past, you’ll be able to choose freely.

When it comes to gameplay, like we said, it’s almost identical to the original. This game will feature two-on-two gameplay. You’ll be able to partner up with a friend and play locally. You can even compete online against others across the globe.

Get ready to experiment with this game. From crazy three-pointers to jumping outrageously high to slam dunk, this game is looking like a ton of fun.
