Once Upon a Time continues with season 6 episode 17, “Awake.” Here’s what you need to know to watch OUAT on TV and online.

The last chapter of the story is drawing near. But what does that mean for our friends in Storybrooke?

It would seem that Once Upon a Time showrunners are preparing fans for two possible scenarios: cancellation, or a new beginning in the seventh and final season of the show. Either way, the arrival of the Black Fairy signals a move toward the end of the story.

As could be expected, in last week’s “Mother’s Little Helper,” Gideon betrayed Emma and used her powers to open a portal between realms. As it turns out, though, he’s working under the Black Fairy’s thrall and can’t make his own decisions. He doesn’t want to be under her control, but he is. During the brief moment that Emma’s life waned, the Black Fairy was able to sneak through into the real world. What will she do next?

It looks like the only way for things to work out is to rewrite history, and that means that the story might change drastically.

Here’s the official episode synopsis from ABC:

"Trapped in Neverland, Hook aligns himself with Tiger Lily, hoping to find a way back to Emma. In Storybrooke, Regina works to break the sleeping curse that David and Snow are under, and Gold denies The Black Fairy, which brings the two of them to a fearsome impasse."
