Bantamweights John Dodson and Eddie Wineland meet at UFC Fight Night 108 in Nashville, here is how it played out.

Bantamweights John Dodson (18-8) and Eddie Wineland (23-11-1) fought on the main card of UFC Fight Night 108 in Nashville, both looking to improve their position in the division.

After spending the most of his UFC career at flyweight, Dodson moved up to bantamweight two fights ago. Dodson won his debut at the weight but lost his last fight to John Lineker after Lineker missed weight. Dodson entered the fight as the No. 7 ranked bantamweight

Wineland entered Saturday on a two-fight winning streak and two-fight knockout streak. The 32-year old entered with a significant height and reach advantage. Wineland entered Saturday night as the No. 10 ranked fighter in the division.

Round 1:

Dodson opened the first round with a body kick. Both fighters circled each other attempting to feel the other out. Dodson landed a body punch and a leg kick. Wineland missed a big right hand. Dodson used his speed to go in and out and avoided getting hit while landing a punch to the body. The smaller Dodson was able to use his speed to frustrate Wineland landing several body kicks throughout the round. Dodson landed a body kick and an overhand right that sent Wineland back to the cage. The Crowd was loudly booing the lack of action in the right. Wineland stuffs a takedown and the two traded body punches. Dodson closed the round with a left hand.

Round 2:

Wineland told his corner he was frustrated by Dodson’s speed. Dodson continues to move in and out well landing a right hand and forcing misses from Wineland with his movement. In the middle of the round, Dodson breaks out in laughter. Wineland lands a right hand after countering a Dodson kick and lands a left jab. Dodson responded with a head kick that was caught by Wineland, and sent Dodson to the ground off-balance. Continuing to move forward, Dodson landed a body kick and a combo that pushed Wineland back. Two cuts were opened up Wineland’s face, one under the right eye and one above the left eye.

Round 3:

Dodson lands a combo early in the round. WIneland responded with a left hand, but Dodson responded with his own left hand combo that backed Wineland up against the cage. Bleeding from his eyes, Wineland caught a kick from Dodson and landed a left hand. Dodson responded with his own left hand and a pair of body kicks.
