Neville came into Payback on Sunday night as the Cruiserweight Champion and looked to defend his gold again versus Austin Aries. Did the King of the Cruiserweights retain once more?

Coming into Sunday night at WWE Payback, Neville had held the WWE Cruiserweight Championship for 91 days, winning the gold from Rich Swann at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view in January.

The King of the Cruiserweights picked up a victory over Austin Aries, his opponent on the WrestleMania 33 Kickoff Show, earlier in the month, but A-Double earned a rematch in a Five-Way match to become the No. 1 contender to Neville’s gold again at Payback.

Here’s the full highlights from their rematch at Payback on Sunday night in San Jose. Could the King retain his throne or did The Greatest Man That Ever Lived win the Cruiserweight title for the first time in his career?

In the early going of the contest, it was all A-Double. The challenger went quickly on the attack, beating the champion to every punch, including this flight to the outside onto Neville.

Of course, it didn’t take Neville too long to get on track in the match, challenging Kevin Owens as the one and only Headlock Master of WWE.

Throw in a couple dropkicks and Neville was in full control of the challenger after the slow start. The two continued on, trading blow-for-blow … or chop-for-chop if you will … and Aries regained control while looking to put the champion away with a big elbow to the back from the top rope.

Aries continued with his offensive onslaught, including a huge suicide dive to the outside and then a sunset flip powerbomb that led to the Last Chancery, which almost put the King away.

Neville took to pulling away the official from seeing him tap out, which led to a disqualification and the end of the match.

Aries wins the match, but Nevill retained the gold. This isn’t over between these two and that’s not a bad thing.

Does A-Double have the champ’s number?
