WWE Payback 2017 results: Seth Rollins vs Samoa Joe video highlights

Here are all of the highlights from the match between Seth Rollins and Samoa Joe from WWE Payback.

Samoa Joe debuted the night after the Royal Rumble attacking Seth Rollins and reinjured his knee. Rollins would sit on the injured list until meeting Triple H at WrestleMania 33. After hitting a pedigree, Rollins pinned Triple H in the middle of the ring.

The night after WrestleMania, Rollins and Samoa Joe meet in a tag team match. Rollins was supposed to team with Chris Jericho but Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens injured Jericho backstage prior to the match. Replacing Jericho and teaming up with Rollins was the returning Finn Balor. Rollins and Balor would go on to defeat Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens. In the buildup to Payback, Rollins and Samoa Joe would again meet in a six-man tag match that Rollins’ team would again win. Following the announcement from general manager Kurt Angle that Samoa Joe and Rollins would have a match, Joe attacked Rollins and the two brawled before being separated.

The match began with Rollins landing a few chops and Joe responding with his own strikes. Rollins hits a dropkick and lands a splash to Joe outside of the ring. Outside of the ring, Joe sends Rollins over the barricade, only to have Rollins get on the barricade and jump onto Joe. Rollins lands a pair of suicide dives to Joe outside of the ring.


Back inside of the ring, Joe and Rollins exchange strikes. Joe continues his attack on Rollins right knee with a leg swept and a senton to the same knee. The ref went to check on Rollins. Rollins is able to recover and send Joe into a turnbuckle. With Joe down, Rollins goes to the top rope but Joe prevents him from landing a top rope move. Joe lands a knee-capper and transitioned into a knee bar. Rollins is just able to reach the bottom rope and force a break. Samoa Joe continues his attack with a half crab and a Texas cloverleaf, but again Rollins forced a rope break.

Joe went to the top rope, but this time he is stopped by Rollins. Rollins attempts a powerbomb, but his knee buckles. Eventually, Rollins is able to recover and hit a falcon arrow.

After connecting with the Falcon arrow, Rollins went to the top rope and hit a frog splash but Joe was able to kick out after a two-count. The two men get to their feet and exchanged forearms. Joe locked in the coquina clutch. However, Rollins counted by kicking himself off the top turnbuckle over Joe, leading to another pinfall attempt. Again Joe kicked out at two. Immediately, Joe landed a massive clothesline and went for the Coquina clutch again. Rollins looked like he was going to pass out but in a last ditch effort he counted Joe and got the three count with a modified craddle.
