Houston and Miami will conclude their three-game interleague set Wednesday afternoon, and with Lance McCullers going, bettors should think about the under.

Unfortunately, followed up Monday’s 2-0 performance with a loss last night in that Rays-Indians Under 9.5 bet, falling narrowly by a half-run. Let’s just move forward to the Wednesday slate.

Lance McCullers vs. Jose Urena

UNDER 8 (-115) (via OddsShark)

The Astros are out to an MLB-best surge to begin the season for plenty of reasons, a main one being they’re steady starting pitching.

Enter Lance McCullers, one of Houston’s best pitchers up to this point. In fact, he’s also been one of the better starting hurlers in the American League, logging a 3-1 record through eight starts to go with a 2.98 ERA and .230 batting average against.

Just as impressive, he’s racked up 57 strikeouts compared to only 13 walks in his 48 1/3 innings of work. Clearly, McCullers is in a nice rhythm in mid-May

That brings us to Jose Urena, who despite making only his third start of the year also appears to have settled into a groove.

Since being inserted into the rotation, the third-year right-hander has notched consecutive quality starts, yielding only two runs over 12 solid frames.

Yes, the Astros’ slugging lineup presents a big challenge in front of Urena, but fortunately fit under backers, they’ll be setting some key regulars like Carlos Correa, Carlos Beltran and Brian McCann.

With McCullers ideally leading the way in this series finale, the under looks like the bet in this Wednesday afternoon South Beach setting.
