The arrival of Praimfaya is about to happen, and here’s what to expect on the season 4 finale of The 100.

Last week’s episode of The 100 set the table for an intense season finale. More deaths took place ,and some of the casualties were surprising ones. Let’s quickly go over what happened in the last show to set up the expectations for the season finale.

The number of fatalities grew larger last week. One of them was a major surprise and the other was one that we saw coming for a while. The obvious death was Jasper’s, and as tragic as it was, it wasn’t a major shock. We saw him pen a suicide letter to Monty several episodes ago. Additionally, his attitude about death in general took on a welcoming tone as the season progressed. Jasper was even able to convince many Arkadians to join him in partying until their last breath. This involved heavy drinking along with the use of hallucinogens. Therefore, it always seemed like Jasper was slowly committing suicide.

In his final moments with Monty, it was clear that Jasper basically overdosed on too many intoxicants. When Monty found him, he was simply staring at the red sky with a dazed look. Monty didn’t want to see his best friend go out like that, but it was far too late. The only thing that Monty could do was hold Jasper as he took his final breaths. Although it was somewhat obvious, Jasper’s death was still sad. We’ve seen him grow a lot over the seasons, and many fans will miss him.

The other death of a familiar character took place with Abigail. This was a shocking event and I don’t think many people saw it coming. When she told Kane to only announce 81 names and to leave her off of it, it seemed like a setup for him to save her. However, this was far from the case. During the end of last week’s episode, we saw over 300 Arkadians killed via gas. One of those Arkadians was indeed Abigail, and I personally couldn’t believe it. After all, she’s Clarke’s mother and has played a key role in every season. The worst part about this is that Clarke doesn’t know yet, so we’ll see how that situation plays out.

This leads us into the season finale which is entitled “Praimfaya.” Here is its description from TV Guide:

"In the Season 4 finale, it’s a race against the end of the world as Praimfaya arrives, forcing the heroes to make impossible decisions to ensure their survival."

Based on the description and promo video, the writing is clearly on the walls. Praimfaya, a.k.a. the radiation wave, will arrive in full force. Those that decide to stay on the ground will need to ensure that they’re inside Second Dawn to ensure safety. As for those that went to Becca’s lab to get Raven, they will be taking a spaceship to the Ark with hopes of surviving Praimfaya that way.
