The Hardy Boyz defended their tag team titles inside of a steel cage against Cesaro and Sheamus at Extreme Rules Sunday night.

In one of the more fun and truly extreme matches of the night, The Hardy Boyz defended their tag team championships against their newest rivals in Cesaro and Sheamus on Sunday night at Extreme Rules.

Just a few weeks ago, Matt Hardy beat Sheamus on RAW, and earned his team the chance to pick what type of match the two tag teams would battle in at Extreme Rules. In typical Hardy fashion, they picked…a steel cage match.

The Hardy Boyz may have made a weird decision in not picking a ladder match for their stipulation, but it still provided for a fun match that gives Cesaro and Sheamus seemingly more of a chance. This match provided some unique rules, with no pin-falls or submissions allowed, and a win only coming with both members of the team escaping from the cage.

With the unique rules, Cesaro and Sheamus tried to end the match immediately, as they both scaled the cage as fast as possible.

Early on, the Hardy Boyz took advantage of the cage surrounding them, utilizing it to slam their opponents’ heads into the walls, and busting out some Poetry in Motion in two of the corners.

At one point, Cesaro had Jeff Hardy by one arm in the air, but it wasn’t enough to keep him out of the cage for too long, as Jeff eventually fell to the ground and escaped.

The match then turned into a 2-on-1, and Matt Hardy was left to fend for himself against Cesaro and Sheamus. Cesaro and Jeff Hardy played a game of Tug O’ War with Matt Hardy as the rope, but Cesaro and Sheamus came out on the winning end of that battle.

The double team continued, and Jeff Hardy tried to get back into the cage through the cage door, before Sheamus delivered a Brogue Kick to the door to Hardy’s face. Sheamus then took the damage to Matt Hardy, hitting White Noise from the top rope.

Jeff Hardy had seen enough, and delivered a Whisper in the Wind off the top of the cage to Cesaro and Sheamus, sacrificing himself for his brother.

As Cesaro and Sheamus scaled the cage on one side, and the Hardy Boyz went through the door, the challengers had their feet hit the floor first to win the RAW Tag Team titles.
