After winning the championship with the Golden State Warriors, Andre Iguodala is set to make his first visit with the San Antonio Spurs.

The San Antonio Spurs are not going to be satisfied with letting the Golden State Warriors keep dominating the Western Conference. On the other hand, after winning the NBA Championship, Andre Iguodala is looking to get a massive payday.

The Warriors have nearly 10 free agents this summer and will be up against the salary cap. They would love to have Iguodala back, but it’s going to be at their price. There were reports that Warriors’ owner Joe Lacob was unhappy dipping into the luxury tax in order to retain all of his free agents.

So with both of these issues brewing, what does that add up to? Andre Iguodala meeting with the San Antonio Spurs as soon as NBA Free Agency begins. According to ESPN’s Chris Haynes, the first meeting that Iguodala will make is with the Spurs’ front office.

Iguodala’s camp is set on getting a big contract for the free agent, that could be worth up to $20 million per year. The Spurs wouldn’t have that kind of salary cap space currently and will have to move around some contracts to make it happen.

It would be a fantastic fit for both sides. Iguodala could retain his sixth-man role in San Antonio and back up Kawhi Leonard. The Spurs would get a veteran, champion and savvy player to run the second-team offense and take the defensive load off of Leonard.

The only issue is going to come down to if the Spurs can meet the contract demands that Iguodala is looking for. If they can, then this could be Iguodala’s best option on the basketball court. It’ll be awfully interesting to see Iguodala in a Spurs’ jersey next season guarding Kevin Durant in the Western Conference Finals.
