Le’Veon Bell reacts to no contract extension with Steelers (Video)

Le’Veon Bell must not be happy with not getting a contract extension from the Steelers, and he took to Snapchat to react to the situation.

Le’Veon Bell has shown how talented he is on the field for the Pittsburgh Steelers over the years, but it looks like it just may not cut it when it comes to earning a contract extension from the team this offseason.

Monday marked the last day for any potential contract negotiations for players, and the day came and went when it came to Bell’s situation with the Steelers. Bell is scheduled to be a free agent after the upcoming season, and doesn’t appear to be too happy about it.

Bell took to Snapchat on Monday, and posted that he has to “get better apparently” to earn himself a big money, long-term deal with the Steelers.

It now looks like Bell will be playing the 2017 season under a $12.1 million franchise tag, if he decides to sign the tender. He hasn’t done so yet, and doesn’t have to show up to any training camp practices until he does so, so it looks like the Steelers may not have their star running back for the start of camp in a few weeks.

In a statement on the situation, Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said that the two sides couldn’t come to a deal, and it looks like Bell will play under the franchise tag this season.

“Unfortunately, we were unable to agree to terms on a long-term contract with Le’Veon Bell prior to today’s deadline,” Colbert said. “Le’Veon is scheduled to play this year under the exclusive franchise tag designation. We will resume our efforts to address his contract situation following the 2017 season.”

Steelers fans are likely hoping the two sides can come to an agreement soon, because Bell has been a dominant force in their backfield when he’s been healthy or not suspended over the last few seasons.
