Lionel Messi opened El Clasico in the International Champions Cup with a goal in less than three minutes.

El Clasico has touched down in the United States, and Miami locals are being treated to one of the biggest rivalries in sports. Not only are Barcelona and Real Madrid fierce rivals, they’re also two of the top-five most valuable franchises in sports, according to Forbes.

And if you thought the two teams we’re going to put up less than their best efforts forward, you’re sorely mistaken. Just three minutes into the game, superstar Lionel Messi put Barcelona on the board with a goal.

It was a classic Messi goal, weaving through defenders throwing the kitchen sink at him in an effort to stop the planet’s best player. But all to no avail as he just marched forward.

It’s a treat for American fans to not only see historic and popular clubs playing such a significant rivalry on their home soil but getting memorable performances from players they typically only see on television.

Messi was almost able to add a second goal moments later. Messi got past the defender and got a shot in on goal but it was defended and the counter attack was on.

The game was all tied up at two goals apiece heading into the half.
