The Rangers appear to be eager to move their ace Yu Darvish. Which teams could potentially pull the trigger on a trade for Darvish?

All seems to be well with the Rangers at the moment. Ivan Rodriguez is set to be inducted into the hall of fame. Adrian Beltre is one hit shy of becoming the first Dominican born player to ever record 3,000 hits. Unfortunately, the on the field product hasn’t shown up as the Rangers currently sit in fourth place in the AL West, 18 games behind the Astros. As the Rangers look to sell, Texas appears to be inclined to move starting pitcher Yu Darvish.

Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star Telegram had the latest on Rangers intentions heading into the deadline:

"“The Texas Rangers are expected to be “active” ahead of Monday’s non-waiver trade deadline and are more sold than ever that they will deal Yu Darvish. Via the Fort Worth Star Telegram.“The Rangers are also working on a trade of catcher Jonathan Lucroy to the Colorado Rockies, according to a baseball source. Calls have been fielded on righty Andrew Cashner, but the Rangers are planning to keep him.”"

The Yankees and Dodgers appear to be the most likely landing spots for Darvish. New York is already scouring the market for Sonny Gray and could conceivably pivot to Darvish if the A’s asking price is too high. LA is also interested in a starting pitcher after Clayton Kershaw will miss significant time due to injury.

With Darvish heading into free agency next season, it may be wise for the Rangers to get the most they possibly can now. Of course, that doesn’t preclude them from signing Darvish in the offseason if they were to trade him. The Yankees did a similar thing when they dealt Aroldis Chapman to the Cubs and signed him to a big money deal in the winter.
