The BC Lions host the Calgary Stampeders at BC Place on Friday, Aug. 18. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Coming off of their bye week, the Calgary Stampeders trail their provincial rivals Edmonton by a game and a half for the division lead. On Friday night, the BC Lions host the Stampeders in a battle of two teams fighting for playoff positioning. The Lions have lost two of their past three games to slip to fourth in the West.

Despite being second in the West, the Stamps have a ridiculous 109 point differential, more than three times as good as second place Edmonton with 35. Even if you take out Calgary’s 60-1 win, they are still ahead of Edmonton in point differential by a wide margin. Defensively, the Stampeders led the league averaging 20.7 points against. Calgary is fourth in sacks and third in interceptions but it is their special teams units that are helping build their incredible point differential. The Stampeders are top three in every special teams statistic except for kick return average.

The Lions split a home and home series with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. In the first game, quarterback Travis Lulay led the Lions to a 30-0 halftime lead and ultimately a 30-15 win. In the second game, starting quarterback Jonathan Jennings returned from injury and was awful. Jennings threw four interceptions as the Lions found themselves down 29-0 at halftime and lost 41-8. While the Lions could ultimately end up in a quarterback controversy, head coach Wally Buono has named Jennings the starter against Calgary. However, if Jennings struggles again, Lulay could come off the bench and replace him again.
