The Hamilton Tiger-Cats host the Ottawa Redblacks at Tim Hortons Field on Friday, Aug. 18. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Last season, Hamilton and Ottawa were the only teams from the East division to make the playoffs. This year, Hamilton and Ottawa are at the bottom of the East standings, combining for one win. The Tiger-Cats are still looking for their first win of the season, while Ottawa is 1-6-1. Both teams enter Friday’s game desperate for a win.

Hamilton is in serious trouble and could be out of the playoff picture before Labour Day. Defensively, the Ticats can not stop anyone and the team is giving up 39 points per game. Former all-star defensive back Emmanuel Davis is set to make his season debut and should match up with former Tiger-Cat and CFL receiving leader Greg Ellingson. Offensively, Hamilton has been as disastrous as their defense. The Ticats offensive line can not protect quarterback Zach Collaros, who was sacked five times in Hamilton’s 39-12 loss to Winnipeg. If Collaros has time, he can be one of the better quarterbacks in the league.

Despite Ottawa’s 1-6-1 record, the Redblacks only have a minus-15 point differential. Offensively, quarterback Trevor Harris is leading the league in passing yards and touchdowns. Ottawa’s offensive line has been shaky at times this season but Harris is still finding ways to put up points. Ottawa made significant changes to its secondary, cutting two players from the defensive unit that is allowing 28.6 points per game. If Ottawa improves defensively, it could make a second half run and catch Toronto and Montreal for first place in the East.

Injuries are hitting the Tiger-Cats hard, especially at defensive tackle. Canadians Evan Gill and Mike Atkinson will miss the game, but Hamilton could also be without all-star Ted Laurent. If Laurent misses the game, Ottawa could have a lot of success on the ground.
