More than 100 players sat or knelt participated in anthem protests during Sunday’s NFL games after Trump’s comments in Alabama.

In a speech in Alabama this weekend, Donald Trump announced that he believed NFL owners should fire players who protest during the national anthem, saying, “Wouldn’t you love to see one these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say ‘Get that son of a b**** off the field right now, out, he’s fired. He’s fired!'”

After Trump doubled down on his comments on Twitter, it came as no surprise when Sunday’s early games were marked by demonstrations during the national anthem. Here are their photos.

The photos reflect the different approaches of each team and, for some teams, document the first anthem protests. Many players continue to take a knee, the move Colin Kaepernick first adopted to protest police violence, and some sat, but even more chose to link arms as a show of solidarity and unity. And the players weren’t the only ones demonstrating, in many cases, the NFL owners, who were called out by Trump along with the players and some of whom were donors to his campaign, were on the field as well. (Trump later tweeted that standing with linked arms is “good.”)

The AP estimates that more than 100 players sat or knelt.

Ravens – Jaguars

The Ravens-Jaguars game was the first of the day — played in London and airing at 8:30 a.m. stateside — and set the precedent for the protests that would mark the day. The anthem protests in London were notable for two reasons. Not only did 27 players and members of staff participate — the most ever in one game — but Shad Khan, the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, also kneeled with the players. Steve Bisciotti, the owner of the Ravens, released a statement saying the organization supports the players 100 percent.

Steelers-Bears

The Steelers elected to stay in their locker room for the national anthem, releasing a statement explaining the move was intended to allow them to abstain from making a political statement. But, Alejandro Villaneuva, who served in Afghanistan as an Army Ranger, was spotted at the edge of the tunnel, hand over heart.
