Ecuador face Argentina at Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa on Tuesday, Oct. 10. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying wraps up on Tuesday, with the final round of games. Brazil are the only nation to qualify for next summer’s World Cup in Russia. The top four teams in the confederation automatically qualify, with the fifth-place team advancing to face New Zealand in a two-leg playoff round. Eighth place Ecuador have already been eliminated after collecting 20 points in 17 games. Argentina are sixth and could miss the World Cup next summer, as only four points separate second place Uruguay and seventh place Paraguay.

Ecuador were eliminated after losing 2-1 to Chile in their previous game. Los Amarillos can now play the role of spoiler for Argentina. In their previous meeting in October 2015, Ecuador defeated Argentina 2-0. On that night, Frickson Erazo and Felipe Caicedo scored in the 80th and 82nd minutes. However, both players were not called up during the international break. Instead, Ecuador will rely on Enner Valencia and Manchester United midfielder Antonio Valencia to take points from Argentina.
Argentina need to win against Ecuador, as a tie would likely eliminate the 2014 World Cup finalists. Despite having a roster filled with offensive stars, Argentina have only scored 16 goals in qualifying. Lionel Messi leads his country with four goals, but no other player has more than two goals. Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain have combined to score 65 international goals but neither player was called up by Jorge Sampaoli. Instead, will rely on Paulo Dybala and Mauro Icardi, who have not scored an international goal. While neither player has scored for Argentina, they have gotten off to great starts in Serie A. Dybala has scored 10 goals for Juventus and Icardi has scored six goals for Inter Milan.
