New Super Mario Odyssey music video is groovy
We’re just about two weeks away from the release of Super Mario Odyssey. Until then, we’ll be replaying the catchy and groovy new music video.
Over the past couple of years, it’s no secret the struggles Nintendo has had to deal with. With the Wii U being a failure, the company had to reinvent themselves and deliver something special. The Nintendo Switch is just that, which has helped Nintendo have a very prosperous 2017. Much of its success may be because of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. However, there’s another huge game releasing in a little over two weeks and it’s Super Mario Odyssey. The new music video is very La La Land-esque and we love every second of it.
The song, “Jump Up, Super Star!,” is extremely catchy, to say the least. We first heard it back when the game was first revealed. Since then, we aren’t ashamed to say we’ve revisited it just to jam out to it a few more times.
As for the music video, it’s also pretty cool. It’s the perfect mix of live-action and animation. We see Mario himself breaking out the dance moves along with a number of other dancers. However, what this video truly emphasizes is how consumers will be able to play it on the Switch. Whether it’s on the dock at home or you’re playing undocked on the go, you’ll have the same amount of fun.

To speak more on the gameplay, Odyssey is, by far, the most unique and innovative Mario game yet. It takes inspiration from its predecessors while introducing a variety of new gameplay elements. For one, there’s Cappy, who reminds us a bit of F.L.U.D.D. from Super Mario Sunshine. Both are sentient objects who serve as companions throughout the game. They’re also very useful in a variety of situations.
Cappy will be able to take control of almost everything (literally). Whether it’s a street light, a taxi, or even a dinosaur, the options seem endless.
What also intrigues us about Odyssey is the vast world we’ll be exploring. This game takes a departure from the Mushroom Kingdom for a change and we’ll set out to new locations and cities.
Super Mario Odyssey may be the best game of the year. With how great 2017 has been, that’s a bold claim. Let’s hope it lives up to the hype once we play it on Oct. 27.
