Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco exited the game on Thursday night against the Miami Dolphins after taking a dirty hit

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco had to exit the game against the Miami Dolphins during the second quarter on Thursday night after taking a very dirty hit from linebacker Kiko Alonso. Flacco was on the run during a Ravens drive, and when he made his slide attempt, Alonso came sailing in like a missile and popped him right in the head.

Immediately, you could see that Flacco was loopy from the hit, which of course then turns your attention right to a potential concussion. Heck, you’d be safe to make the assumption when the Ravens signal-caller lost his helmet on the play.

As of right now, the only update that has been provided is that Flacco has entered the concussion protocol, and after a hit like the one he took from Alonso, it may also be safe to assume he’ll be missing a few games.

Now, what was definitely the most surprising from all this is the fact that Alonso was not ejected from the game. He was penalized after the play, but there’s no question that he should have been sent to an early shower. Despite not being ejected, though, you can bet the league office will take a hard look at the hit and Alonso will be missing a few games due to suspension.

But, right now, what’s most important is the health of Flacco after such a dirty play, and he’s being checked out as this update is being provided. As more information becomes available on the condition of the Ravens quarterback, we will keep you updated right here.
