Wait ’til next year is an old adage, but Vegas believes it truly applies to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

It’s rough to lose Game 7 of the World Series at home, but buck up Dodgers fans: you’ve got a good chance of seeing your team hoist the trophy a year from now.

So say the oddsmakers in Las Vegas, who like L.A.’s roster enough to make them the favorites to win the 2018 World Series. The Westgate Las Vegas Superbook put the odds of the runner-up Dodgers to win the title next season at 5/1, tops in the majors.

The newly minted champions from Houston aren’t far behind, as the Astros opened at 6/1 odds. They’re tied with the Cleveland Indians and just ahead of the Washington Nationals, who received 7/1 odds despite a growing history of playoff futility.

Here are the complete 2018 World Series odds from the Superbook, including one straggler way below all the others:

  • Los Angeles Dodgers – 5/1
  • Houston Astros – 6/1
  • Cleveland Indians – 6/1
  • Washington Nationals – 7/1
  • New York Yankees – 8/1
  • Boston Red Sox – 10/1
  • Chicago Cubs – 10/1
  • New York Mets – 20/1
  • Arizona Diamondbacks – 20/1
  • St. Louis Cardinals – 20/1
  • Tampa Rays – 30/1
  • Toronto Blue Jays – 30/1
  • Seattle Mariners – 30/1
  • Milwaukee Brewers – 30/1
  • Colorado Rockies – 40/1
  • Chicago White Sox – 50/1
  • Los Angeles Angels – 50/1
  • Atlanta Braves – 50/1
  • San Francisco Giants – 50/1
  • Baltimore Orioles – 60/1
  • Texas Rangers – 60/1
  • Miami Marlins – 80/1
  • Pittsburgh Pirates – 80/1
  • Minnesota Twins – 80/1
  • Kansas City Royals – 80/1
  • Oakland Athletics – 80/1
  • Philadelphia Phillies – 80/1
  • Cincinnati Reds – 80/1
  • San Diego Padres – 80/1
  • Detroit Tigers – 300/1

That’s pretty harsh for the Tigers to be so far below the rest of the pack, but look at it this way: a $5 bet on Detroit will pay off at well over $1000 if they manage to shock the world in 2018.

Of course, considering the way the Dodgers and Astros performed this season, a bet on the favorites doesn’t seem too bad either. These odds will change before pitchers and catchers report again, but if you make your way to Las Vegas soon, these are the odds you can expect to see for the next World Series.
