Vasyl Lomachenko and Guillermo Rigondeaux will do battle on Saturday night in one of the most anticipated boxing matches of the year.

So far, it’s been an incredible year for the sport of boxing. And Saturday night, as the calendar year slowly comes to a close, we could be treated to maybe the best fight that we will see in 2017, as Vasyl Lomachenko will step into the ring to take on Guillermo Rigondeaux. Whenever you put two former Olympic gold medal boxers into the ring against one another, the chances for a spectacular fight are very high.

Lomachenko comes into this battle in New York City on Saturday night with a 9-1 record as a professional and is considered one of the fastest rising stars in the world of boxing. The junior lightweight is riding an eight-fight winning streak coming into Saturday night’s festivities, with his last three fights coming to an end due to corner stoppage. He’s a force to be reckoned with, and it’s easy to see why many out there consider him to be the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world, even over someone as polarizing and dominant as Gennady Golovkin. He’ll look to keep that momentum rolling on Saturday night with yet another convincing win.

However, his opponent in Rigondeaux is no slouch whatsoever. The 2000 and 2004 Olympic gold medalist for Cuba heads into this one with an even better record than his opponent at 17-0. While Rigondeaux is a bit older than Lomachenko at 37 years old, his unblemished record speaks for itself and should show everyone that he has all the tools necessary to shock the boxing world on Saturday evening in the Big Apple.

Never before have two-time Olympic gold medal winners stepped into the boxing ring to face one another, but that all changes on Saturday when Vasyl Lomachenko and Guillermo Rigondeaux will go at it.
