Burnley defeated Watford 1-0 in their last game, with Canadian international Scott Arfield scoring the winner. The Clarets enter Tuesday’s game in seventh place, level on points with Tottenham. Stoke come to Turf Moor in 15th place with 16 points. The Potters were dominated in their last game, losing 5-1 against Tottenham.
Sean Dyche has his Burnley team playing some of the best defense in the league. Only Manchester City and Manchester United have allowed fewer goals than Burnley. Saturday’s game was the seventh clean sheet that the Clarets have kept this season. While Burnley are excellent defensively, they have not opened things up offensively. The Clarets have scored the seventh-fewest goals this season. New Zealand striker Chris Wood leads the club with four goals and will continue to start up front for Dyche.
While Burnley are one of the best defensive teams, Stoke are the worst in the league. Stoke’s 35 goals against is the worst in the Premier League, three more than second worst West Ham. American defender Geoff Cameron could see more minutes as manager Mark Hughes attempts to fix his team’s defensive woes. While the Potters struggle to defend, they are 10th in goals. Xherdan Shaqiri and Mame Diouf lead the club with four goals, while Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Peter Crouch have each added three goals.
