Who are Rey’s parents in The Last Jedi?

One of the biggest questions heading into Star Wars: The Last Jedi was about Rey’s parents. So who are they?

The Star Wars series does a fascinating job at getting us to think about the films long after watching them. After watching The Force Awakens, it left us with a variety of questions and concerns. One of the biggest questions pertains to Rey’s lineage. Who are Rey’s parents? Does The Last Jedi fill that void? Before we discuss further, here’s your spoiler warning.

Sadly, in our opinion, the movie doesn’t give us a proper answer. Throughout the entire film, it’s constantly being teased as to who Rey’s parents are. Unfortunately, we never get a firm response. There is one instance where both Rey and Kylo Ren are in Supreme Leader Snoke’s lair. Once Kylo Ren tricks Snoke and kills him, him and Rey team up and take out his henchmen. Here is when Kylo Ren tries to get Rey to join him on the dark side. He says some some pretty cruel and savage stuff, saying her parents never cared about her and left her on Jakku.

So the real question is whether he’s lying to her or are Rey’s parents non-factors now? Are they actually just some random people who so happened to have a daughter who’s strong with the Force? It seems The Last Jedi slightly complicated things a bit more.

If you were to ask us, we still think there’ll be a huge reveal in the next installment about Rey’s parents. We refuse to believe Rey is a random person from Jakku who is miraculously Force-sensitive. As of right now, it would make sense if she was related to Luke Skywalker or Leia in some way, shape or form. Her connection to Kylo Ren in this movie was very strong, which only supports this claim. Then again, this may have been Snoke’s doing, which is what he says in the film.

She may even be a Kenobi, which would be awesome. But, to answer the question, depressingly, we still don’t know. We’ll just have to wait another year and a half.
