The Michigan State Spartans face the Washington State Cougars on Thursday, Dec. 28 in the 2017 Holiday Bowl, and here is all the info you need to watch.
The Michigan State Spartans bounced back very nicely from their atrocious 3-9 record in 2016. They found their quarterback of the future in Brian Lewerke, and their defense once again stood tall and did their usual MSU thing where they absolutely shut teams down and made a lot of the offenses from the Big Ten absolutely miserable. They were contenders in the Big Ten East until that embarrassing performance against Ohio State in Week 11, and they will be in the thick of things once again in 2018. Ye, for now, they will have to do with bowling for the 10th time in 11 years.
The Washington State Cougars got off to a tremendous start this year, beginning the season at 5-0. The Cougars will go bowling for the fourth time in five seasons. Washington State is known for Mike Leach’s air raid offense led by quarterback Luke Falk, who has once again lit up the scoreboards throwing for 3,593 yards and 30 touchdowns, and that is always something that will exhaust the opposing team’s defense. Usually, WSU’s defense has not been very steady, but this year, under defensive coordinator Alex Grinch, they were one of the best defenses in the Pac-12 headlined by Hercules Mata’afa.
