After a torrid start to the season, Houston has suddenly looked vulnerable over the last week or so. The team’s swoon coincides with another injury to point guard Chris Paul, which certainly doesn’t seem like a coincidence. Paul has been nothing short of excellent for the Rockets in his first season with the team, and he’s set to miss Thursday’s tilt with Boston as well. As of Thursday, it was unclear if Paul would be available for Friday night’s clash with Washington.

Washington has been playing solid basketball as of late, and the team netted an important victory over the Boston Celtics on Christmas. The Wizards have had Wall back for eight games now, going 5-3 since his return to the lineup. Wednesday night saw Washington fall to an inferior Hawks team in the kind of loss that makes fans question if the Wizards are truly ready to challenge the top teams in the Eastern Conference. A win against Houston would certainly help in the confidence department.
