One of the only things we wanted was for NSYNC to reunite at the Super Bowl 52 halftime show.

If there was one wish we all had for the Super Bowl 52 halftime show, it was for Justin Timberlake to bring his NSYNC brothers on stage with him.

Well, the actual thing we wanted more than anything was for Timberlake to not use a Prince hologram and deface the legend of Minnesota’s greatest icon. The idea that he was even considering using Prince’s imagery to sell his performance was gross and made everyone in the world hope for an NSYNC reunion even harder since it would mean Prince isn’t involved.

It seemed like the perfect spot for a reunion. Timberlake did his best to distance his solo career from his pop group career in the 90s. He did very little to connect himself to that bygone era, but the power of nostalgia is a helluva drug, and people are addicted. We’re getting to the point where just about anything from the 90s is retro cool, and NSYNC is about as hardcore late decade as it gets.

Given how into nostalgia we all are, getting the band back together on the biggest stage in entertainment was too perfect to not happen. It wouldn’t even be the first time NSYNC was on stage at the Super Bowl together. They performed with Aerosmith back in 2001 at a Super Bowl the Baltimore Ravens would go on to win, so it would be a reunion on a stage they’ve all been on before.

Timberlake not embracing his boyband roots has been a sticking point for a lot of people who think Ostrich Syndrome will make us all forget that it happened.
