Losing quarterback Tom Brady reflects on the Patriots Super Bowl in the postgame press conference.

Tom Brady is an NFL legend, nay, a Super Bowl legend. The Patriots quarterback has led New England to eight Super Bowl appearances and five titles, winning four Super Bowl MVP awards (the most by a single player) along the way. So it came as no surprise to see Brady in Super Bowl 52, but it was actually something of a surprise to see him lose.

The Patriots went down 15-3 to the Eagles in the first half and after a classic New England resurgence that kept the fourth quarter riveting through the final seconds, could never quite put it away after a fourth-quarter fumble allowed Philly to kick a game-sealing field goal. Still, Brady threw for 505 yards, 3 touchdowns and no interceptions.

Here’s some things he had to say after the game.

  • “If you’re not in the game, you don’t have a chance to win. If you want to be world champs you need to be in this game.”
  • “We battled. It was competitive, but we didn’t get the job done.”
  • “Eagles played a better game today they deserved to win.”
  • “Losing sucks, but that’s part of it. You show up and you try to win and sometimes you lose and that’s the way it goes.”
  • “It does suck. Yep, it sucks.”
  • “No one’s feeling sorry for us. We’ll evaluate like we always do. Everyone I’m sure is pretty tired after a long year.”
  • I expect to be back so we’ll see. It’s 15 minutes after the game ended. I’d like to process this a little bit but I wouldn’t see why I wouldn’t be back.”
