Houston Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt and Olympic curler Matt Hamilton, this is a friendship we can get behind.

Houston Texans defensive end and charitable superstar J.J. Watt is just like you — completely obsessed with the Winter Olympics.

Most of us become taken with the strange, delightful Winter Olympics sport that is curling when we catch it on the television every fourth February, and Watt is no exception.

Watt got so excited about his new favorite sport that he proudly repped it across his gargantuan chest:

Watt’s enthusiasm caught the eye of American curler Matt Hamilton, who is basking in his newfound fame:

The two cemented their new friendship for all the world to see, with Hamilton magnanimously welcoming the #HamFam’s newest member with open arms:

Hamilton and his sister/curling partner, Becca, hail from McFarland, Wisconsin, not far from Watt’s hometown of Waukesha.

If you don’t share Watt’s enthusiasm of or knowledge about the Winter Olympics, stay out of his way. His teammate, Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, found that out the hard way on Tuesday, and will have to live with his mistake living on Watt’s Instagram.

“What’s your favorite Winter Olympic sport?” Watt asks Watson as he walks by.

“Cycling,” Watson replies.

Oof.

“What did you just say?!” Watt exclaims, as his teammates begin to heckle the sophomore signal-caller.

Watson tried to correct himself. “It’s not cycling, it’s curling!” he says, before proceeding to perform a bowling pantomime.

Sigh. At least Watt doesn’t have to worry about anyone on his team competing with him for Hamilton’s friendship.

Watson’s gaffe may have been forgotten after 24 hours when Watt’s Instagram story disappeared, but thanks to the power of the Internet, it will live on in infamy.

Watt isn’t the only American celebrity to become enamored with curling, the official Winter Olympic sport of FanSided.

Mr. T likes it, too!
