Germany face Brazil at the Olympiastadion on Tuesday, March 27. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Germany and Brazil are the top two team in the world according to the latest FIFA rankings. On Tuesday, the two teams conclude the international break with a game at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.
Marvin Plattenhardt was the only Hertha Berlin player called up, and will likely start at left-back and be used as a free-kick specialist. Plattenhardt is on the bubble for the World Cup and a strong performance on Tuesday could seal his spot on the final roster. Full-back is one of the weaker positions for German heading into the World Cup. Last summer, Joachim Low decided to use more back threes to take advantage of die Mannschaft’s midfield and center-back talent and depth. Emre Can and Sebastian Rudy have both played midfield and full-back for German and their versatility could help them make the roster. With Timo Werner dealing with a nagging injury, Mario Gomez, Lars Stindl, and Sandro Wagner will get a chance to play in Russia. Ultimately, likely only one of Gomez, Stindl, and Wagner will make the final 23 man roster.
Brazil are one of the most talented offensive teams in the world, even with Neymar injured. Tite has a wealth of options to choose from and could lineup in a few different ways. However, their defense will be their biggest weakness this summer. Outside of Marcelo and Marquinhos, Brazil’s key defenders Dani Alves, Miranda, and Thiago Silva are all in their mid-30s. Chelsea’s David Luiz was one of the bigger names not called up by Tite. While the defense could struggle, Brazil have excellent options in net to clean up mistakes. Tite’s first choice has been Roma keeper Alisson, who has arguably been the best keeper in Serie A this season. However, Manchester City’s Ederson could overtake Alisson, if the Roma keeper ever struggles.
The international friendly match between Germany and Brazil will be broadcast online. Live streaming is available on Fox Sports Go, which you can access with your cable or satellite subscription, either online or through their app.
Tuesday game is the first meeting between Germany and Brazil since Die Mannschaft’s 7-1 victory in the semifinal of the 2014 World Cup.
