Which Knicks point guard of the future do YOU believe in?

The most exciting recent development for Knicks fans could be that they finally caught the Bulls in the tankathon standings. After a rousing 17-14 start to the year, injuries caused the season to derail.  Since franchise cornerstone Kristaps Porzingis tore his ACL in February, New York has limped to a 5-25 record.

The Knicks shifted their focus to young players (where it arguably should have been all along). A trade deadline deal brought in former point guard Emmanuel Mudiay to add into the mix with Frank Ntilikina, the 8th pick of the 2017 draft. Also bursting onto the scene was Trey Burke, a former lottery pick himself who turned heads with a 42 point, 12 assist performance.

Do any of these young point guards project to be the next Knicks star to compliment a healthy Porzingis? Which one will be the starter on opening night of the 2018-19 season?

To answer these questions, James Marceda joins the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast. James hosts the Locked on Knicks podcast, in addition to running the popular NBA Injury Report (@NBAInjuryR3port) account. While weighing in on the point guard battle, he also addresses the following topics:

  • How much of the early season success is sustainable for next year?
  • Has some of the unicorn magic worn off because of Porzingis’ injuries? Does his torn ACL cloud the team’s future and fan optimism?
  • Did Tim Hardaway Jr. play up to his contract?
  • What was the best moment of the year for the Knicks?
