With three games remaining in the Premier League season, Newcastle have clinched survival in their return season. Watford are fighting for survival. Although Watford have a six-point lead on Southampton, their recent play could see them drop further down the table. The Hornets have lost five of their last seven games, picking up only two points over that stretch. Only West Ham and Stoke have allowed more goals than Watford this season. The Hornets need to play better defensively if they are going to stay above the relegation zone. Abdoulaye Doucoure leads the club with seven goals and will have to create goals if Watford are going to defeat Newcastle.
After winning four straight games, Newcastle have lost 1-0 in their last two games. The Magpies fell 1-0 to last place West Brom last weekend. Rafa Benitez’s side are responsible defensively, allowing the seventh-fewest goals in the Premier League. However, the Magpies struggle to score goals. Only five teams have scored fewer goals than Newcastle. The Toons continue to rely on Ayoze Perez and Dwight Gayle who lead the team with five goals apiece.
