Here’s a roundup of the latest news and transfer rumors from across the soccer world. Find out which players could be joining new teams this summer.

The highlight of Thursday’s transfer rumors is that Manchester United have beaten off competition from rivals City in the race to sign Fred, according to Sky Sports.

United are reported to be in advanced talks with the Brazilian’s club, Shakhtar Donetsk, over a $60 Million move to England. Manchester United are keen to sign the player before the start of the World Cup.

The Brazilian midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, however it was thought Fred would move to the blue side of Manchester. The retirement of Michael Carrick last month may have persuaded the United boss Jose Mourinho that he needed a top quality central midfielder to replace the Englishman.

Also, the Daily Mirror is reporting that Manchester United will not stop their spending at Fred. The Mirror suggest that United are interested in signing Toby Alderweireld.

The Tottenham defender has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs since the arrival of Davinson Sanchez last summer. Alderweireld has also failed to reach an agreement with Spurs over a contract extension, with his current deal expiring in 2020. Spurs are willing to let the Belgium defender leave this summer to avoid Alderweireld running down his contract, and forcing Tottenham in to a situation where they have to sell him on the cheap next summer.

ESPN is reporting that if Tottenham were to sell Alderweireld than Spurs would look to West Brom’s Ahmed Hegazi as back up. Hegazi has impressed many this season despite being part of a West Brom side who were relegated this season from the Premier League. However, the Egyptian started all of the Baggies 38 league games and was seen as a shining light in a dark season for West Brom.

Meanwhile the Express is reporting that Napoli want David Luiz as a makeweight in Chelsea’s deal to appoint Maurizio Sarri as their new manager. It is reported that Chelsea will have to pay Napoli $10 million in compensation if they want Sarri as their new boss, despite the fact the Italian club have already appointed Carlo Ancelotti their new manager. However, Napoli will waive that fee if Luiz is allowed to join Napoli on a free.

Also, Leighton Baines has rubbished reports he could be set to join LA Galaxy this summer according to the Liverpool Echo. Baines had been linked to a move to MLS as he is approaching his final year at Everton, but the full-back is keen to end his playing days at his boyhood club.
