Serbia will clash with Brazil in Group E’s final match of the 2018 World Cup. Brazil only need a draw to continue on to the round of 16 but would clinch a first place finish with a win. Serbia need a win or combination of a draw plus a multi-goal loss from Switzerland to make it to the knockout rounds.
Serbia lost in heartbreaking fashion to Switzerland in their last match after taking the lead in the first half. They need to try and win rather than hope for good fortune in the other match in Group E, but it wouldn’t be prudent to go all out in attack. Serbia can still attempt to soak up the inevitable pressure from Brazil and hit them on the counter, or try and take advantage of set pieces with Aleksandar Mitrovic leading the way.
The selecao left their last match against Costa Rica late, but eventually put two past Keylor Navas in stoppage time to get the win. Coutinho once again came through for Brazil as he put the winner home in the 91st minute while Neymar sealed the match off with one of his own in the 97th. Brazil only need a draw to go through, but will be eyeing first place with a win.
