Kyle Kuzma takes his NBA 2K rating a little too seriously

Kyle Kuzma wasn’t going to try hard this season, but his low 2K rating has provided him with just the motivation he needed.

It’s 2K ratings SZN, which means it’s “complain about 2K ratings SZN.” The latest unhappy camper is Kyle Kuzma, who tweeted, “2k rating is disrespectful. Y’all will learn though” followed by a flex and fist emoji. Nothing says “strength” and “fist bump me, bro” like getting mad over a video game rating.

Kuzma’s rating in the game 78 overall, which may or may not be fair depending on the rating of other players. Ben Simmons, Jayson Tatum, and Donovan Mitchell all received an overall rating of 87.

Simmons was rightfully upset.

Until more player ratings are released, this outrage feels fake on Kuzma’s part. Maybe he thinks 78 is disrespectful, but we have no one to compare him to. If Lonzo Ball is rated higher, then Kuzma has reason to be upset. Simmons not being happy at least makes sense. He won Rookie of the Year over Tatum and Mitchell. At least put the guy one overall point higher than those two.

If anyone should be upset, it’s LeBron James. His reported 98 overall is entirely too low. Seriously. Everyone else should be on a 1-100 scale but LeBron is playing a different game altogether.

What really hurt Kuzma’s overall rating was the new “social media” category. Kuzma’s fake beef with Lonzo significantly lowered his rating in that category, bringing his overall number down at least two points.

Next: Gordon Hayward is dunking basketballs again

If players really want to do something about their rating, they should just what I do. Go into the game, edit player, and create your own rating. Is Andre Roberson a better 3-point shooter than Steph Curry in my 2K game? Why yes. Yes he is.
