With Jessica Biel’s Cora out of the picture (though Biel herself is still a producer on the show), the series places its focus squarely on Bill Pullman’s dogged detective Ambrose. In the second season he encounters a boy who’s just murdered his parents. Conveniently, the crime took place in his old hometown, so in investigating the crime, Ambrose is also going to have to face his messy past. Like many a TV hero before him.

But will audiences want to see a second season? The show was very well-received, but it’s always risky when a network extends something that wasn’t originally meant to be extended, too. We’ll have to see if Ambrose can dig up renewed viewership the second time around.
