The San Francisco 49ers will host the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1 of the preseason on Thursday night. Here is how to watch this NFL exhibition game online.

Set to be nationally broadcasted as the last game on the Thursday docket, two teams with a storied history, the 49ers and Cowboys, will face off to begin their preseasons.

Both teams are in slightly different places as we head into 2018 with the 49ers rising and the Cowboys somewhat falling.

For the home team, they’re entering 2018 without tight end Jason Witten or wide receiver Dez Bryant.

As a result, they’re looking for a new No. 1 receiver.

Currently, they have Allen Hurns, but they also drafted Michael Gallup—the player to watch for this week.

Without a clear-cut No. 1 option, Gallup has a chance to prove himself to the Cowboys brass that he can be quarterback Dak Prescott’s No. 1 guy.

Hurns may have the edge as far as experience goes, but Gallup possesses a great combination of size, speed and height at just over six-foot and with a 40-yard dash at 4.51.

For the 49ers, we should also look at another wide receiver.

Of course, the 49ers hype has a lot to do with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, especially after claiming he was better than New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, but Dante Pettis is a guy we should keep an eye on.

The 49ers have Marquise Goodwin and Pierre Garçon, but they could be looking for a third wide receiver option.

Right now, Trent Taylor looks like a solid choice, but Pettis could overtake him.

Pettis has excellent athletic pedigree. His father, Gary Pettis, is a former gold glove outfielder and is the current Houston Astros third base coach.

From the football side of things, Pettis can run any route and play anywhere on the field. He can also be utilized on special teams with nine career return touchdowns in college.
