Arsenal have the unenviable task of taking on the Champions of the Premier League on their opening match. Not only are Manchester City the title-holders, but they are still unquestionably the team to beat this season. This could be a rude welcome to Unai Emery’s first match in charge Arsenal. Emery takes over as the Gunner’s manager from Arsene Wenger, who was in charge for over two decades. The former Paris Saint Germain boss hasn’t made sweeping changes to the side, but has carefully selected a few key pieces that supporters are hoping leads them back into the top four again.
Manchester City’s goal is simple: win the Premier League and Champions League. After utterly dominating the English top flight last season, Pep Guardiola and company will now try and replicate that while focusing their efforts in Europe as well. Every club in the Premier League will be taking their best shot against City this season, but, if it’s even possible, they are more stacked than they were last season. The title is City’s to lose, but they’ll be hoping for more than just back-to-back championships in England.
